Unique Custom Home on the Wind River, WA

This distinctive and unique home is located on the Wind River, WA and provides a weekend get-away for its owners and a beautiful setting for entertaining their guests.

The final design of this extraordinary home included a 24'x24' room with 18' ceilings that sloped to 24' tall following the top chord of the steel truss pictured. The steel trusses were covered with cedar in the finished house to give the illusion they were made of wood.

These trusses were analyzed using a finite element analysis program to allow for the smallest possible steel members to be used; this was crucial to the architectural design when they were covered with wood in the finished house.

Also included was a 3000 square foot concrete deck with a swimming pool and a hot tub embedded into the concrete deck. This outdoor space was integral to the livability of the house and required our structural engineering services to brace this elevated deck against gravity and seismic forces.
